After completing his university education in Eskişehir Zekeriya Avşar founded the family company, Çapa Medikal in 1987. Avşar is the Chairman of the Board of Çapa Medikal and avid believer of lifelong education.

He worked as the general secretary at the Board of Directors of Marmara Medical Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (MASSİAD) from 1998 to 2002 and worked as an council member at Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) between 1995-2010. Zekeriya Avşar still works in the board of directors of Pharmaceutical Health Sciences and Technologies Foundation (İVEK).
