Dr. Betül Türel Erbay is the Head of Global Product Sustainability for the Flexibles Segment at Huhtamaki, a role she has held since 2022. With over 20 years of expertise in plastics and packaging, Betül has been a driving force in advancing sustainability and innovation since joining Huhtamaki in 2007.

In her current role, she leads the Flexibles segment’s product sustainability strategy, overseeing programs, partnerships, and global initiatives. She plays a pivotal role in fostering regional and international customer relationships and managing global engagements with multinational key accounts. Betül represents Huhtamaki in influential initiatives, including UNGC, RecyClass, the Business Plastic Initiative, CEFLEX, and HolyGrail 2.0, among others.

Previously, Betül served as Sustainability and Business Development Director for Huhtamaki’s Istanbul and Egypt plants, a role she continues to perform alongside her leadership in product sustainability. Since 2018, she has also served as Leader of the Istanbul R&D Center, driving innovation management across the company. Earlier in her career, she contributed to Huhtamaki Istanbul in roles spanning ink and printing operations and business development.

Betül holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Yıldız Technical University and both an MSc. and Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Technology from Istanbul Technical University. She is married and a proud mother of one.
